Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Operations Director to oversee the full execution of large-scale home improvement expos and live events across multiple states. This role is responsible for ensuring every show is executed smoothly, on time, and at a high standard of quality.

The Operations Director manages logistics, venues, floor plans, vendors, and on-site staff while leading an Operations Manager and coordinating with internal teams including Marketing, Sales, and Accounting.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on leadership role requiring strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

  • Event Operations & Execution
  • Plan and execute full event logistics for home shows and expos
  • Create detailed show schedules (load-in, show hours, load-out)
  • Oversee on-site execution and problem-solving during events

Venue & Contract Management

  • Source and secure venues for events
  • Negotiate and manage venue contracts
  • Confirm show dates and ensure all agreements are accurate

Floor Plans & Production

  • Design and manage event floor plans
  • Optimize booth layouts for capacity and flow
  • Ensure compliance with venue requirements and safety standards
  • Coordinate power, pipe & drape, AV, and rental needs

Exhibitor & Vendor Management

  • Create and manage exhibitor applications based on confirmed shows
  • Oversee vendor communication and distribution of show kits
  • Manage relationships with production vendors and service providers

On-Site Leadership

  • Schedule and manage show staff
  • Act as primary point of contact during events
  • Resolve on-site issues in real time

Financial & Administrative Coordination

  • Work with Accounting to track venue deposits and payment schedules
  • Ensure operational expenses are properly monitored and on track

Team Leadership

  • Manage and develop Operations Manager
  • Build scalable systems to improve efficiency and consistency

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Marketing on show readiness and capacity updates
  • Support internal teams to ensure successful show execution

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in Operations, Events Management, or Leadership
  • Strong experience in live events, trade shows, or expo production
  • Understanding of floor plans and venue logistics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace (Excel, Sheets, Docs, etc.)
  • Experience using CRM systems (Pipedrive or similar)
  • Strong understanding of contracts and vendor agreements
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong multitasking and problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel for events as needed

About the Role

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
